After WW2 Willy took to sending Christmas cards to the girls in Australia. He seemed to have a very strong friendship with Hugh Clark who married Elizabeth (Leeb) in Stonehaven before migrating to Australia. He always refers to him as Hughie. In these card Willie done some on black card stock and these are the only examples I have found so far of his experimentation. Some of them are outstanding but in digitizing them they are being shown much larger than their original size. These should be veiwed in a size that is of a standard letter envelop, which of course they were meant to fit in.
Obviously much loved cards from Willie to sister Elizabeth and brother in law Hughie. Greetings side of the card. | This photograph shows the size of each small painting and the immense effort Willie must have put into preparing these to send to his beloved sister and good friend Hugh Clark in Sydney Australia. | Perhaps one of the early ones as it has no year on it. Willie seemed to put the year on most of the later ones. | Need to identify the time as this may be people returning from the fire ball ceremony and Hogmanay. |

The cover on Willies card to Hugh Clark for 1951 | A view of Dunnottar castle from the viewing point. | Margaret or Meg as she was known to the family was the last of the sisters to migrate to Australia. She never married or had family. | To be identified by Stuart if possible. |
Mary Anne was the first of the sister to leave Scotlands shores and migrated to New Zealand to be with James, the older brother. She married George McPhee whilst in New Zealand and moved to Sydney where George went on to become a very influential publican. They had no family. | A view looking south towards Doonies point from the furthest point out on the Backies. | Possibly the view of the family house from the Backies looking toward the Toon Clock.
Needs clarification from Stuart | Unidentified
The 1953 New Year card sent to Leeb (Elizabeth) | A view looking back onto Shoreside from the wharf at Stonehaven. | The New Year card sent to Hugh by Willie in 1953. | Possibly fishing in the Carron river Stonehaven. |
The card sent to Margaret (Meg) written in 1944 with the comments on the cold winter and the blackouts due to the war and bombings.
